In our previous articles we talked about how to install some fashion games on GNU / Linux. Today we will talk about how to install any (well, almost any) set of MS Windows to GNU / Linux with minimal effort. We begin by telling you that the requirements to play vary widely, games like StarCraft to work well in a small Netbook, while things like Final Fantasy XI require a good dual core machine and video card like nVidia or ATI minimum requirements manufacturer. As a rule, it is possible that with less than 1GB of RAM your gaming experience is not entirely satisfactory. Since we made the previous note, let's move to install the needed packages. The basic tool is the Wine. Wine is an emulator not a virtualization tool, as some people might say, its very name says it all: Wine Is Not an Emulator. Wine is a tool that provides an intermediate layer of MS Windows applications and interface libraries need in order to work. With that said, let us begin. We could start by installing Wine, considering the two main methods of packages, DEB and RPM. However, there is a simpler way to install Wine and that allow us to put games: Play On Linux. Play On Linux is a program that allows us to install and use easily numerous games and programs intended to run exclusively on Microsoft ® Windows ®. Indeed, currently, still few games are compatible with GNU / Linux, which can be a deterrent to make the leap. PlayOnLinux provides an accessible and effective solution to this problem, free of charge and always respecting the free programs.

Final Fantasy XI, one of the best and most popular war game or RPG, is now available for Linux. This is great news for all FF Fans and Linux, like me. There natively, that would have been wonderful, but through the magic of Crossover Games for Codeweavers.com now we can enjoy this game on our favorite operating system.
The game is nominated with a silver medal in CrossOver, which means that this application can be installed and run well enough to be usable. Although that does not mean never going to fail or that everything works 100%, for one performance is good enough to play. To use this application requires from Codeweavers CrossOver Games, a paid application, that truth is worth paying for it, with only $ 35 you get a great tool to run several games on Linux. For more information on how this game, check out the page for Final Fantasy XI on Codeweavers.

My favorite genre of games are RPGs, especially the multi player. Something like Final Fantasy or World of Warcraft. Unfortunately neither of these are Linux version. So it was looking for something similar, I found this game, Vendetta. Vendetta is an RPG type game (MMORPG to be exact) Multi-player, which has its environment in space. It has a persistent universe, which means that the changes you make will remain, they disappear. Players take the form of pilots of spaceships in the universe, traveling between space stations and other points of the galaxy. Fighting in the game is real time, based entirely on your fighting skills, ie how fast you can press the shutter button, so good aim that you, not like in FF which is shift. Your playing driving your own ship, and you're not a surfer in some other external games, ie you're in your seat the pilot, and your screen is your display of the ship.
