After months of rumors, it was announced officially: Nokia will release a high end phone with Linux. And not just any phone, this beauty has 256MB RAM, 32GB of internal storage expandable with an SDHC card, available at the time of 16GB, a total of about 48GB, but that several laptops that are still offered in the market.

With an amazing resolution of 800x480 (WVGA) and resistive touch screen, you will see pages in a small notebook, and you can use a pencil to write on the screen. By the way! has very good wireless connections, start with the known Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g, DLNA, with speeds up to 54Mbps connection to cellular networks very complete, with support for GPRS Class 32, HSCSD old modem type connections, EDGE Class 32 and the fabulous 10Mbps connection or 3G HSDPA HSUPA 2Mbps.

We could not miss the very useful Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP (for stereo headsets), but do not bring infrared, adios to use as a programmable remote control.

It has multimedia attachments that marked edge with the N95, main camera is 5 MP, 2592x1944 pixels, Carl Zeiss optics with autofocus and dual LED flash, which also serves as a lamp for the video camera, which opens the option to use as a flashlight to illuminate the nights when the lights go out. Your video is very acceptable, with resolution of 848x480 @ 25fps and front camera for video conferencing.

It also includes very useful A-GPS with Maps Ovi software and a powerful ARM Cortex A8 processor with 600 MHz video PowerVR SGX, which supports OpenGL and 3D visual effects than welcome (something I really envy the iPhone is its interface with both "flow"). The keyboard is doubled, it has virtual keyboard on the screen, as common as telephones and tactile, but also with a sliding QWERTY keyboard, complete.

But what really concerns us here at Living Linux, is that it has Maemo 5, a controversial version of mobile Linux has come in the Nokia tablets from the N800 (or perhaps before), and that many people do not have liked. However, perhaps opening the door to install Android, Ubuntu Mobile, Openmoko or some other distribution, total, with 32GB of space, no more limiting than 256 of RAM, which for such a small device are no problem .

We will be anxiously awaiting to arrive October 2009 to see if we can make one of these very powerful devices, hopefully not get too expensive, as its price in Europe is advertised for $ 500 plus tax, and U.S. and $ 700 plus tax. At that price we are likely to reach 10,000 pesos, but for a beauty like this one I think most would be willing to invest that amount.

And now a few pictures of this fabulous team:
