Do you have lots of articles?

Maybe your articles are too long or you have very long list of articles. Try disabling the autogenerated sitemap on the plugin configuration, and adding another sitemap generation plugin like Xmap or Sef service map, and use that to generate the sitemap link.

Or you want to add more memory to the php.ini config, or if you are in a shared hosting service, using the .htaccess config to specify more memory to the php process.
