Me sugirieron en joomla extensions que hiciera la extracción de las imagenes de contenidos anteriores, y me pareció util.

Aunque tal vez convenga hacer un componente para este propósito.

Esta en la lista de pendientes.

It was fetching remote images for new articles was very good and making them local..was Excellent
But small Suggestion... It would be greate if it could also fetch images for old articles..
( like running it once manually..so all the old images become local images.)
