Image doesn't post - just link to image! hace 8 Meses, 1 Semana

I'm having a serious issue with Easy Ping. The following are the settings I have within the Plugin Parameters:
enable plugin YES
Create Sitemap YES
Yahoo YES
Yahoo APID (blank)
MSN Live YES
Fetch Images NO
Imags Path: images/stories/automatic
The permissions set on this folder
It did not un-attach all of my images as it has done before, but when I try to insert a picture via the image manager dialog box in the add article (com_content) area of my Joomla! backend, it shows fine when I hit "update" in that dialog box, but when I save or apply the changes to the article, it just shows a link to the article - no image, just a text link!
What can I do? What is going on? I am using Joomla! 1.5.14 and JCE (Component Version 1.5.7, Plugin Version 1.5.5 ). I have JCE set up to use the images/stories/automatic folder for all groups to be the go-to images folder).
Please help! I post a lot of articles and other entries on my website, so I need to get this sussed as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance.

Hi!
First of all, you can't have Yahoo in YES and Yahoo APID blank, you need to disable yahoo or obtain a yahoo API key. You also need to set in yes Fetch Images.
This plugin don't touch the local images, only images with the syntax of someurl.com/bla/image.png, but if your images are in the form of directory/other/image.png, then the easyping don't touch them.

Ok, well it helps to know that about Yahoo, so thank you for that. I turned Yahoo off (NO) but still have the same issue.
I'm sorry I wasn't clear when I originally posted, but I had to turn the 'fetch images' to NO because having it set to YES just made a text link (not even hyperlinked, just the text) where the image was supposed to show.
As far as the folder in which the images are supposed to be stored (if/when they are 'fetched') - it put images/stories/automatic in by itself, that wasn't something that I decided to do arbitrarily! I do notice in my back end (server) that there a boatload of folders within images/stories/automatic but all of them are empty.
So, if someone could please clarify what the image path should be (if not images/stories/automatic) or any other changes I need to make to make this plugin work. My boyfriend is running a parallel site, using the same version of Joomla!, JCE and Easy Ping, all with the same settings (except he has Yahoo set to YES and has the APID field blank with no problems) same image file path, and his works fine!!
For an example of what it looks like with the 'Fetch images' set to yes, see here: http://nwolibrary.com/news/esoteric/473
with 'Fetch images' OFF, see here http://nwolibrary.com/news/esoteric/476
my boyfriend's site (he has 'Fetch images' YES) http://mysticpolitics.com/news/
I absolutely MUST make this work!!!

The default path is OK. it should be created automatically. Check if it exists. Inside that folder, it will create a new folder for each article that have images, and inside that folder, it puts the images.
do you know the original place of the images? the version of easy ping?
thanks

Thank you for your response. I am using Easy Ping 1.1, as downloaded days ago from this site (I uninstalled the plugin, re-downloaded it and re-installed it).
On my server, in the 'images' folder, there is a folder stories/automatic, and as I mentioned, there are a lot of folders inside of 'automatic' but all of them are empty.
I'm not sure what you mean by the origin of the images. I am pasting the link of the image in from various websites. My impression was that the plugin then saved that image to the images/stories/automatic/1,2,3 or whatever number folder it creates for that particular article entry. If that is wrong, please correct me, but that is what it does on my boyfriend's website, and he had the same settings as I did (except his 'fetch images' was set to YES, because it worked for him, again, I had to turn it off - set it to NO - because it just made a text link -not hyperlink- just the text of where the original image was located on the Internet).
The permissions for the folder 'images' is 755
stories = 755
automatic = 755
numbered folders inside of automatic = 755
I turned off the Yahoo option (NO and the APID is blank).
So, what do I need to do? why is it not working for me?
